Is there a colorful 18″ perennial for part shade (zone 5)?
How about an annual for the same place? The soil is kind of poor, and I’m a beginner gardener. Maybe I should start with trying out an annual?

Geraniums, Sidalceas, Lavatera, Veronica and Coreopsis are all excellent, reliable and colorful perennial plants for any part shaded garden.
